Actually, it all did start with a mouse. Although Oswald was one of the first properties made by Walt Disney, it is a misconception to say that Oswald started Disney as we know it. That is blatant revisionist history because Oswald fanbrats have talked about Mickey as "inferior" and that he stole his fame.

Oswald was also never "stolen" from Walt. Although Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks at the Disney Brothers Studio (which is now the Walt Disney Company), Oswald was always OWNED by Universal Studios. Oswald was MADE for Universal because they wanted a star, and tasked Walt & his animators to create a new character for them. Neither Walt nor Ub ever named Oswald. His name was chosen from a hat.

However, as Charles Mintz, alongside George Winkler, were signing all of Walt's remaining animators except Ub Iwerks and Les Clark to a new contract behind Walt Disney's back, Mintz wanted Walt Disney to sign the new contract and leave the Disney studios behind. Walt asked for budget cuts and when not given what he wanted, contrary to what Mintz expected, Walt left.

You can not even call Oswald, Disney's first MAIN character. Alice and Julius, from the Alice Comedies, had both preceded Oswald by several years since 1923 until 1927.

Barely anyone knew who Walt Disney was before creating Mickey. If it had not been for the fact that Walt Disney was credited as the producer of the Oswald cartoons, nobody would have known who he was. Mickey MOUSE was the one who contributed to making The Disney Brothers Studio, a small tiny animation studio, into The Walt Disney Company. Disney was we know it today would not have been the case if it were not for Mickey. This is what Walt Disney meant when he said "It was all started by a Mouse."

In conclusion, the claims that "it was all started by a Rabbit" is not only wrong but also pure misinformation. A myth and lie from Oswald fanbrats who wish not to accept the facts.
